Heartsmart Walks in Fittleworth area

1. Thursday 18th August – 10.30am – *New Walk* Fittleworth
Leader: GeraldDuration: 1.5 hours Distance: 3 miles.Two short stretches on tarmac and then a lovely walk through countryside surrounding Fittleworth. No stiles and wonderful views across the River Rother. Two inclines. Excellent café available for teas, coffees and small lunches.Meet: Fittleworth Village Hall RH20 1JB, in the car park area at the rear of the Hall.
 
2.Wed 31st August – 10.30am – *New walk* Nature Walk Fittleworth and HesworthLeader: Olivia, a South Downs Ranger. Duration: 2 hrs Distance: approx. 4km. A moderate circular walk round the heathland on Hesworth common and a great viewpoint across the downs. We’ll then follow the serpent trail off the common and down into Fittleworth before looping back via some farmland and back via Fittleworth common. We finish at Fittleworth Stores and Café which offer a great selection of cakes and refreshments.Well behaved dogs on leads only please (please note that we could encounter grazing livestock) Meet: Fittleworth Stores, School Lane, Fittleworth, West Sussex, RH20 1JB.
 
Tue 2nd August – 6.30pm – *New Evening Walk* Purple heather carpets of Lords PieceLeader: Olivia, a South Downs Ranger.  Duration: 1 hr 45 mins Distance: 2.3 miles /approx.
4km. A gentle circular walk taking in a variety of wildlife and the stunning blooming heather of Lords Piece. We’ll look out for dragonfly on the pond and follow the Serpent Trail for 1km before looping back towards Lords Piece along a nice shaded bridleway. The walk finished with a gentle climb to admire the view of the South Downs. Some slightly uneven areas on the heath.Meet: Lords Piece top car park (on Coates Lane) RH20 1PZBy Car: To arrive by car: from Chichester take the A285 towards Duncton. After Duncton, take the right hand turn onto Burton park road. Follow the road past the pond and keep heading straight through the first junction following signs to Coates. The car park entrance is on the right just after the second junction (junction between Coates Lane and Blue doors Rd).
