In June 2017, on Elgar’s birthday weekend, we commemorate Elgar’s arrival in Sussex with a festival of his chamber music in and around Fittleworth.

This afternoon the quartet will play Elgar’s eloquent and soulful String Quartet, with selected readings from diaries and letters. After a short refreshment break a film directed by local resident Paul Yule, ‘Elgar’s Tenth Muse’, starring James Fox,  will be shown. This is ‘u’ rated and looks at Elgar’s later life and relationships, some filmed locally.

Any donations for refreshments and the film will go to the Friends of St Mary’s, for the building fund of St Mary’s church Fittleworth.
