Horse Chestnut on Recreation Ground to be felled

Fittleworth Parish Council know that residents have been concerned with the condition of the Horse Chestnut tree near to the café on the Recreation Ground. Unfortunately, the tree is diseased and has died, so we wanted to let you know that it is being felled, probably later this week. A replacement tree of a different species will be planted nearby shortly. A Tree Surgeon has looked at other Horse Chestnuts in the vicinity and these are reported to be safe but will be monitored closely over the coming months in case they deteriorate.
