A Carpet Ride to Khiva – A talk by Chris Aslan

A Revival of 15th Century Timurid Carpet Designs from Persian Illuminated Manuscripts.

The traditional role of carpet weaving and embroidery in Khiva, a desert oasis in Uzbekistan, played a huge part in social lives of Central Asian women.  We will learn how social and political influences led tonthe decline of textile production.
