The Parish Council owns the following certain areas of land within the parish boundaries:
- Hesworth Common and Birch Walks Wood
- the land on which the Scout Hut, Bowls Club and Rifle Club stand
- the Centenary Garden
- the old sand pit in Sandy Lane
- the Council is also responsible for the Recreation Ground on behalf of the Recreation Ground Charity.
As part of the management of this land, the Parish Council has a rolling programme of regular tree inspections and professional surveys. In June 2024 we engaged an arborist to survey the trees on Hesworth Common that line the A283, and those on the Recreation Ground. As a result of this survey, the Parish Council are now undertaking tree works to ensure the health of the trees and to maintain a safe environment for residents and visitors to the village.
In September we felled one Oak and one Beech near the Lower Street Car Park on Hesworth Common, due to damage and disease respectively.
In October there will be additional work carried out on trees along the A283 at Hesworth Common. There may be some minor disruption to traffic in this area, although the road will not be closed. Walkers should avoid areas of Hesworth Common where tree works are being undertaken.
Thank you for your cooperation.
